-- Christmas Toy Drive
The Annual Christmas Toy Drive, under the direction of Msgr. Hugh MacPherson Council # 14596 (KoC) for the second year in a row, has been an overwhelming success once again. Over the course of 33 days, 20 members of the council, (representing 42% of our council) along with 6 volunteers, contributed more than 1158 hours of time, energy and effort to this amazing, most worthwhile project!

Father Gerald Mackenzie Council 8608 hosted on Aug. 1 for two
shows at the Hector Arena in Pictou .Both shows sold out. A large number of
Knights and their spouses were decked out in red t-shirts for the occasion. A
planning team had worked since Feb. to plan for this event. The Council selected
to groups to salute at each show. Part of the performance recognizes a local
group or individual for their service to the community. The two groups were the
144 Construction Engineer Flight of the Canadian Military and all of the local
volunteer fire departments in Pictou County.

On October 27,The Father Gerald MacKenzie Council 8608, Pictou and the New Glasgow Council 1667 of the Knights of Columbus presented 72 brand new "Coats for Kids" to NS Department of Community Services for distribution locally. The occasion was the Father Gerald MacKenzie Council 8608 making a special presentation to Father Evo Dipierro, Associate Parish Priest in Stella Maris ,Pictou .Father Evo was leaving the parish to become the new Pastor at Lakevale Parish in Antigonish County.Stella Maris had been his first posting after his ordination two years ago.Council 8608 made a special presentation to him on this occasion.Council also made a presentation to Vivian MacNeill as she was retiring from as Choir Director of Stella Maris Church,after 25 years of faithful service.Council made a special presentation to Vivian on behalf of Council 8608.
