State Communication:

Convention Registration  "HOTEL RESERVATIONS"

Brothers when the original documentation was forwarded it asked that you register and book your hotel rooms by April 13, 2012. The committee now asks that you register and book your hotel room on or before 25 February 2012.

By registering by 25 February if will give the committee the required funds to purchase materials for the convention packages, the ladies program and other projects that require payment before April. By booking your hotel by 25 February we will have a good idea on how many more rooms will have to be booked to bring us up to 100 per night for the 4th & 5th of May. If we reach the 100 per night quota we will see a saving to the budget of $1025.00 for meeting rooms and a $4000.00 rebate from the hotel after the convention. Any saving by the convention committee is an ultimate saving to all councils also.

Next year the registration forms will be changed to reflect the new dates that registration and hotel bookings will be required.

State of Nova Scotia Memberships Goals
"I AM MY BROTHER`S KEEPER"   One Member a Month per Council

As of today we have only recruited 27 new members  since July 1 .

Grand Knights : Do the math: 27 new members divided by 18 weeks time elapsed equals=  a rate of 1.5 members per week .  This translates into a possible total of 39 by December 31 and 78 by June 30, 2012.  At this rate we will not be able to replace those who we will lose this Columbian year to deaths alone!
Get an actuary in the insurance business and he will be able to predict with some degree of accuracy if this trend continues, the year and the day the LAST LIVING KNIGHT IN NOVA SCOTIA GETS TO TURN OFF THE LIGHTS!!

Come out to the next Membership Seminar ( coming soon to a council near you!) and get the facts: "Where we don`t want to go", "Where we want to go", and, "How we are going to get there".

Fraternally yours

Robert( Bob) Brooks, State Deputy

Gentlemen; The Chalice Gift Catalogue is now available. If you bought a gift last year you will receive the catalogue in the mail. If you haven’t used this service in the past and would like to get the catalogue you can call 1 800 776 6855 or go to www.chalice.ca or you can drop into their offices on Sackville drive (across the street from Sackville recycling and rubber duck car wash).

This is a great way to teach our children and grandchildren the idea of helping others in need. The idea is simple you purchase anything from farm animals to school supplies to household and income items even water systems and you than send a card to your children / grandchildren or friend stating this gift has been purchased in their name.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Prayer Program

A new Knights of Columbus Marian Prayer Program dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe was launched Aug. 3 at the Supreme Convention in Denver. The prayer program will continue through next year, when the second international Guadalupe Festival will be held in the Los Angeles Coliseum a few days before the opening of the 2012 convention. at the end of the Wednesday morning Mass, State Deputies from each of the Order’s jurisdictions received specially prepared framed images of Our Lady of Guadalupe for use in
the prayer program. The images have unique features: they were touched to the original tilma of St. Juan Diego, which bears the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and were blessed by Pope Benedict XVI in Rome. In addition, the frame for the image is sealed with soil from Mexico’s Tepeyac hill, where Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared. Hundreds of similar images of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be sent by the Supreme Council to each jurisdiction for the Marian Prayer Program. Local councils will be able to sponsor prayer services in parish churches and other locations before sending the image to neighbouring councils. at the end of the program, most of the Order’s 14,000 councils will have hosted and prayed with the Guadalupe images
.
Knights of Columbus State Deputies stand before the altar at the end of Mass, Aug. 3, holding their jurisdiction’s framed image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, as Msgr. Eduardo Chavez explains the new Marian Prayer Program in which the images will be hosted by local councils worldwide.
